| th of August in India. By now she walked passed nine thousand kilometer on foot on her way to Lhasa.
Meeting his Holiness the Dalai Lama Mcloud Ganj, 28 th of August 2008, Britt Das finally had the opportunity to meet His Holiness the Dalai Lama before he took off to Mumbai. Although he cancelled all his appointments for the coming three weeks for his well being she was blessed to see him. She met him at his residence in Mcloud Ganj and ‘His Holiness was well informed about her mission ‘Footprints for Freedom, Embrace Tibet’; for peace freedom and respect and in support of Tibet and asked about her kilometers walked up till know. She got blessed by him and received a gift for her efforts and His Holiness thanked her for here brave undertaking for peace and his people. It was a truly ‘magical’ experience, which gave Britt the strength and faith to continue with her mission although she is running out of time, she later commented with sparkling eyes and a big smile. |
| Press conference Pakistan
With the support of famous mountaineer Nazir Sabir she managed to cover the part in Northern Pakistan and received a lot of press attention when she visited the capital Islamabad after finishing her walk from the Afghanistan / Pakistan border near Chitral to Muzaffarabad near the Pakistan / Indian Border covering more than 775 kilometers passing through three different mountain ranges. view here |
| 8 th of August 2008, one year on the Freedom Road
On the 7 th of August she took part in the ‘Candle of Peace’ march in Dharamsala and on the 8 th she had the privilege to light the first candle during a gathering at the Tsuglagkhang Temple among the people of the Tibetan community, Tibetan monks and foreign peacekeepers. Unfortunately she was not able to achieve her goal within one year due to several reasons. An operation on her jaw, dehydration and extra time for press conferences and news coverage as well as extending visas took much more time then anticipated. She is still determined to succeed her pilgrimage for peace and hopefully things will work out for the best as dealing with commitments in the Netherlands as well as financial funding are urging her to return, she hopes to be able to keep her promise. Painted on the rocks the words: ‘Better late the never’ as she frequently encountered on her walk the passed days along the road, and together with the blessing of ‘His Holiness’ it is almost impossible for her not to keep her promise and fulfill her pilgrimage. Love from the Freedom Road |
